Health & Wellbeing

As a community sporting club, as well as through our community associations and the sporting Leagues in which we participate, have the opportunity and potential to provide both direct and indirect benefits toward health and wellbeing via the social support and resources we offer to our members.

Dromana Junior Football & Netball Club (DJFNC) is committed to the health and well-being of our players and encourages anyone going through a difficult time to say something.

Our trained Health & Wellbeing Officers are available to support players – to lend a listening ear, and to help make connections with people and services that offer professional help on issues impacting our players.

The DJFNC is committed, first and foremost, to the healthy development and wellbeing of our young people, and we are passionate about working to reduce risk factors and increase protective factors within our Club and community.

Now, more than ever, our young people need the skills and resources to help them navigate through the challenging mental health conditions they continue to face.

Everyone at some stage in their lives experiences challenges. There is no shame in experiencing difficulties or in asking for help, and we are intent on normalising conversations about our mental health.

Health and well-being concerns can mean different things to different people, and can include:

  • Depression and anxiety
  • Suicidal thoughts
  • Bullying
  • Inclusion, discrimination or racism
  • Family and other violence
  • Sexual abuse or harassment
  • You feel unsafe
  • Social isolation and loneliness
  • Smoking, drugs and alcohol
  • Grief
  • Physical illness or impairment
  • Coping with life stressors
  • Financial concerns
If you feel you are at risk of harm, harming yourself or suspect there is an immediate risk to another person you need to take action to keep yourself and others safe.
